  • What is the process for surrendering a reptile? Can you explain the steps involved?

IF the owner is comfortable with it, we ask for the story of why they are considering a surrender. If its something we can help and avoid (i.e. teaching/helping better care and habitat needs) we would prefer to go that route, however if surrendering is the best option for the animal (not the person) then we do have a surrender form to take a history of the animal to be filled out as best as possible. Then we ask owner to bring animal and supplies and agreed surrender fee.

  • Do you have quarantine procedures?

All incoming animals undergo a mandatory quarantine period lasting a minimum of two weeks. This vital phase enables us to closely observe and conduct health assessments. During this period, our dedicated team monitors their overall well-being, weight, and behavior. Only when an animal receives a clean bill of health and meets our rigorous standards will they be approved and made available for adoption.

  • Do you sell animals?

No, we do not sell animals. Our mission at Herpaderp is centered around animal welfare, rescue, and rehabilitation. We do not engage in the sale of animals. Instead, we focus on rescuing, providing medical care, and ultimately finding loving forever homes for animals in need. Our goal is to ensure that each animal receives the best care and a chance for a better life.

  • How do you house the animals?

At Herpaderp Reptile Rescue, we house our animals in a way that prioritizes their well-being and natural habitat needs. We are strong advocates of bio-active enclosures. Bio-active setups aim to mimic the reptiles' natural environments as closely as possible. Overall, our goal is to create a safe, comfortable, and naturalistic environment for the reptiles we rescue, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.

  • How can I adopt a reptile from Herpaderp Reptile Rescue?

To adopt a reptile from us, please visit our website or get in touch with us directly. We have an adoption process that involves an application, home check, and adoption fee. This ensures that our reptiles are placed in suitable homes.

  • What is "bio-active" care, and why do you promote it?

Bio-active care is a holistic approach to housing reptiles that aims to recreate their natural environments. It involves using live plants, natural substrates, and microfauna to create a self-sustaining ecosystem within the enclosure. We promote bio-active care because it provides a healthier and more enriching environment for our reptiles.
