Our Mission

Herpaderp reptile rescue is an exotic animal rescue organization based in Antioch, CA, that specializes in rescuing and rehabilitating exotic animals such as turtles, lizards, snakes and other animals that are not native to the area or are not commonly kept as pets. Our mission is to provide a close to natural environment for as many animals as possible and ensure their health and well-being. We aim to provide a safe haven for animals that have reached the end of their line and have to give up their pets due to change in lifestyle or due to the health of the animal. We strive to provide the peace of mind that with us these animals will be provided the best care, the best habitat, and the best life they could have. We work towards providing appropriate housing, diet, and veterinary care and work to find suitable homes for the animals where they can continue to receive proper care. We are also committed to sustainability, implementing water and energy conservation measures, and building natural indoor and outdoor ecosystems all year round.

What We’ve Achieved

  • Built and maintained natural indoor and outdoor ecosystems all year round, providing animals with appropriate habitats that mimic their natural environments, promoting their well-being and supporting their health, growth and reproduction.

  • Provided proper care, diet, and veterinary treatment for all the animals we rescued and rehabilitated

  • Implemented sustainable energy and water conservation measures, including solar energy and reducing water usage, in order to run as an eco-friendly organization, promote environmental sustainability, reduce our carbon footprint, comply with mandatory water restrictions, and ensure a consistent supply of clean water and energy for the animals in our care.

  • Educated many on the proper diet and care that we provide and how they themselves can improve on theirs.

  • Implemented solar energy, reducing our dependence on non-renewable energy sources and reducing our carbon footprint

  • Raised awareness about the importance of conservation and the negative impacts of human activities on animal populations

  • Found suitable homes for the animals that were ready for release or adoption, ensuring that the animals go to homes that can provide proper care, diet and veterinary treatment, as well as suitable living conditions that mimic their natural habitat. This includes conducting background checks and providing education and support to the new owners, to ensure they are equipped to provide proper care for the animals, while minimizing invasive actions such as home visits.
