Pond Turtles

Our pond turtles are a group rather than individuals. They live together in the pond, and we adopt them out from that group as homes come up. They are slow and steady, and their charm will win the race to your heart.

Species: mostly red-eared sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans), plus some yellow-bellied sliders (Trachemys scripta scripta)

Sex: mixed

Approx. age: mixed, mostly adults

Expected adult size: 10-12 in shell for a female slider, 7-9 in for a male

Expected lifespan: 20-40 years in captivity

Enclosure needed: an adult needs 100+ gallons of water or an outdoor pond, with powerful filtration, a dry basking platform, a basking lamp and UVB. More than one turtle means more water and more filtration, not the same tank shared.

Experience level: beginner friendly, as long as you can commit to a proper adult aquatic setup

Important: sliders are an invasive species in California. They must never be released into local waterways, ponds or parks. If you can no longer keep one, bring it back to us.

Adoption fee: quoted at application

Adoption fees are set per animal based on enclosure requirements and any medical needs. We will quote yours during screening.
